Heh. That little bastard really is MIA at the moment. I don't know what to do about that just yet.
As for this theory...
1. Vanity Smurf had possessions. He had a mirror and wore a flower in his Smurf Hat. Smurfette had her very own dress and HIGH HEELS. In fact...they all had a possession or two if I recall correctly. Don't you remember the interior of Smurfette's mushroom in particular. And what about Brawny Smurf's weight set?
2. How DOES the Communist Theory explain the fact that Smurfette was the only girl? Just curious. I'm all about Smurfette today, arent I?
3. It wasn't so much that they wore the same outfit. Their bodies were all the same color. They were blue. Big deal. Brainy had glasses, Chef had a chef hat, Brawny had a tattoo, etc. Sure they all had White Hats excepting Papa...but like...so what. Certain tribes in African all wear plates in their lip. It was just their style.
4. The reason why they didn't leave the village is because those rotten bastards, Gargamel and Azriel were always lurking around somewhere waiting to catch them. The others DID leave the village and did really wonderful things...dont you remember A Very Smurfy Christmas?
So in conclusion, I think this whole thing is just very clever but really...its like interpreting poetry...everyone gets something different out of it. I don't buy into the S.M.U.R.F. Commies. The Smurfs were just an attempt to revitalize the old tales of fairies and pixies and gnomes. Simple as that. If you based this theory on other cartoons or comics you would find the same things, I bet. Try X-Men for example. They all have a specific power (trade) and thats what they do. They wear a uniform. They all live in the same place and don't really have alot of personal stuff. Their rooms always looked pretty bare-bones to me. Couldn't you apply this to them as well? Professor X in the role of Papa Smurf? What do you think?

1. You fucking got me stumped there.
2. They actually sorted this out. Smurfette (according to loosely named experts suggested) was in fact in line with their Dogma. Women were really veiwed in the day as just women. She had no real significance in the village unless it was just the in between episode sexual deviancy. She was only known as "ette" instead of an actual function.
3. I have no retort to this other that the fact that African tribes are fucking 10x cooler than the Smurfs.
4. Gargamel ("experts" believe) was symbolic to capitalism where as he wanted to turn little blue people into gold, always portrayed as a greedy son of a bitch. As for them leaving, if it happened during the late 80's that was the turning point with the Berlin wall. And I hate Christmas except for the cold.
It really is just interpretation. Maybe some stoner thought this shit up in college. They could do it even to say......the X-Men. The X-Men were always under harrassment and prejudice. Professor X was always delgating to politicians towards peaceful acts. He could be contrued as Martin Luther King for the mutants. The polar opposite was the villan Magneto. Not a true villan per say, but a flawed character, demanding violent acts against humanity. Malcolm X. There is a lot of proof that writers of the series often let their politics subtley in the comic book mainstream. Not saying this was the case, but it is fun in a geek sense to come up with this shit on the fly. You're right though. Anyone can do this. Interpretation is fun.
