Rock Needs Your Help

Celebrating my brother's birthday that night, we were given a performance by a local band known as Driver 23. They were the usual Taproot/Deftones/Buzz band on the radio sound that gets pumped out like a Ford manufacturing plant. Now I'm not saying they were bad. They musicians were definitely talented, and a couple times I actually listened to parts of a song. Well the frontman/singer starts going on some sort of rant about how everyone in the room should subscribe to Weird Magazine, Weird Radio, get the Weird Magazine compilation CD, ect. This shameless act of self-plugging went on for about 5-7 minutes. Fine....Whatever.......Just shut the fuck up and get back to the music. The set was bombarded with the usual "cater to the drunk crowd" questions from the singer. "Who here in the place is DRUNK!!!!" Go figure there are drunk people in a bar. "Who here has snorted beer!!!" Oh shit, this is embarrassing. The drummer must be given props for interrupting the singer, calmly explaining the roots of the particular song they were about to play and why it's special to them. You get a thumbs up mother fucker for shutting the deuce bag up for a little while and giving the band some serious light for a moment. After the song, the singer took out his shovel and dug deeper into his hole. Waving a plastic bucket around, he proceeded to ask for tips to help them out with recording, the tour, merch, ect. I heard the word "pinche" uttered from his mouth. This really did not bother me. What bothered me was right after this little act, he zoomed over to the bar in the middle of a song (he was singing the whole time) for a shot. After the song he asked for more crowd input if he should take the shot.

Hey dipshits wearing a Driver 23 shirt...... Hey you groupie chicks crowding the front.......Hey you people who put money into this jar.......Your money that you probably bust your ass for is going straight to the singers alcoholism. No tour.......no struggle.....just a fucking talking, singing joke that you throw money to for his booze. You can't support shit like this. If you people let this happen all the time and continue to support an asshole like this, then the local music "scene" will go nowhere.

A message to the drummer- Tell the singer to shut the fuck up. You were the only one who had any fucking sense.

I may be judgmental, but you don't see me asking for any money.
